Our Story

Antwan Williams

I am Antwan Williams. I was born and raised in California, but every root I have runs straight to Louisiana. That is where all my family comes from, down through the prairies of St. Landry Parish, Carencro, and Opelousas. For years, I made my living on the road hauling hazmat fuel, and that road will feed you wrong if you let it. Between the truck-stop food, the lack of sleep, and zero movement, my health steadily slid year after year.

The turning point came around COVID when I was diagnosed as pre-diabetic. I knew right then that something had to change, and I refused to accept that diagnosis as my final path. I went back to the old ways, reaching for the holistic herbs and traditional elements that my people have always trusted. By combining real food, moving my body again, and staying disciplined with raw herbs straight from the earth, I brought myself completely out of the pre-diabetic range. That is my personal story, and it is a journey I am still living out every single day.

Alongside my own health journey, I have spent years working as our family historian, systematically reconstructing our archives and tracing our deep lines back through generations of resistance and cross-cultural alliance. Knowing exactly where you come from is an essential part of being well. Rooted Goods Co. is the exact intersection where those two roads meet. This storefront is born out of a simple need for honest, raw, and unadulterated goods that are honestly labeled by a real person who answers for them.

Nothing on this shelf is engineered in a lab or watered down with chemical fillers. The earth already made exactly what your body needs to stay well. Sea moss comes directly up out of the ocean, black seed comes straight out of the dirt, and our traditional soaps are handcrafted in native soils using the exact recipes that have sustained our people for centuries. Nothing is added that does not belong. This is my personal shelf, filled with the exact same raw elements I use myself, backed by absolute human accountability.
